DOG TRAINING SERVICES

GETTING STARTED
Before we take on any puppy or dog on to any of our training Programmes and Courses we arrange an initial consultation with you and your puppy usually at your home depending on mileage. Initial Consultations last up to 2 hours and consist of a greeting and introduction to you canine companion, a nose to tail health check of your puppy*, a walk with the owner as I observe, an initial mental and physical evaluation, an in depth questionnaire regarding you and your puppy. Followed lastly by a discussion of your goals and which course would be most beneficial for you and you four legged friend as well as helpful tips for you to implement.
Initial consultations are £120 and are charged separately to our courses.
Some courses focus more on training the owner to be the best leader your dog deserves while others offer your dog more one on one time with one of our trainers. All courses will conclude with a lesson with the owner to make sure the owner understands the importance of continued training, can can correctly implement the right training techniques to fully guarantee that your puppy learns these lessons for life. It is extremely important to remember that the success of any of these courses depend solely on the correct continual implementation of the training techniques demonstrated. All members of the house hold including children can have an impact on teaching your puppy/dog the right and wrong lessons.
* Health checks are carried out by our first aid certified and experienced behaviouralist. They are not qualified Veterinarians and the conclusions of our health checks are not a guarantee that your dog/ puppy is healthy. Routine checks with your vets are still advised and recommended by ourselves.

About Our Training Programs
Puppy Training
Our puppy training course is suitable for all dogs between the age of 12 weeks and 6 months. However, it’s important to remember that the earlier training begins, the more consistent your puppy’s environment will be, giving them the best opportunity for success. At Clwyd Canines, we offer a variety of puppy training programs and courses tailored to your dog’s unique requirements—all of which will be discussed during the initial consultation.
Some of our courses can start just a few days after your puppy has settled into their new home. These programs offer guidance on setting your puppy up for lifelong success. Many behavioural issues stem from lessons learned early in a puppy’s development. From the moment your puppy is born, they are learning and adapting to their environment.
Our home puppy training can help you with:
- Bad behaviour prevention
- Toilet training
- The benefits of crate training
- Diet and good food manners
- Recall – coming when called
- Gate and door control (threshold measures)
- Indroducing essential commands
- Creating an atmosphere optimised for your puppies developement
- Distance control (staying with you when there are distractions)
- Successful socialisation and desensitisation
- And much more…
Dog Obedience Training
An early start with dog obedience training and effective communication is key to success. At Clwyd Canines, we use proven methods to address your dog’s behavioral problems. With a customised, one-to-one dog training program, we’ll help your dog become even more lovable while strengthening the bond between you and your pet.
In most cases, owners can expect to see immediate results. We focus on training both the dog and the owner using effective communication techniques, with no physical punishment or harsh methods.
The initial home lesson is scheduled at a convenient time for you and your family. During this session, our trainer will explain the reasons behind your dog’s unwanted behaviours, provide a tailored training plan, and teach you how to effectively communicate with your dog in a way they understand, ensuring long-lasting results.
Clwyd Canines provides training programs and behavioural services for all dogs, from early puppy education to adult dogs, helping to overcome behaviour problems and teach essential obedience.
Our obedience training programs address the following:
- Essential commands to ensure your dogs safety
- Excessive barking
- Jumping up
- Pulling on the lead
- Recall – coming when called
- Overexuberance

- Sibling rivalry
- And much more, whether the problems occur in the home or outside…
Behavioural Reconditioning
Clwyd Canines’ dog trainers and behavioural therapists are equipped with the knowledge and experience needed to handle even the most challenging dogs. Drawing on these resources, we’ll help you transform your dog’s behaviour and put an end to your frustrations.
Today, more dogs are being rescued from shelters than ever before, which we believe is truly wonderful. However, many of these dogs come from harsh environments, and figuring out the best plan of action to help them settle into their new home isn’t always easy.
Our services are ideal for adult dogs with behavioural problems such as:
- Separation anxiety – often accompanied by barking or destructive behaviours
- Aggression toward people, other dogs, or animals
- Excessive or intimidating barking
- Nervousness or lack of confidence around other dogs
- Obsessive-compulsive disorders
- Challenges adjusting after being rescued from a shelter
- Muzzle training
…and much more.
